Look at the border now. Anyone who doubted the national emergency declared by President Trump and spun it off as if it was a political stunt should be in dismay over their own words.
President Trump is days away from completely closing the border, for legitimate and illegitimate crossers alike. Aaccording to US CBP Commissioner Kevin McAlleenan, the border is at its “breaking point.” “That breaking point has arrived this week at our border,” he said when visiting the border in El Paso, Texas.
“CBP is facing an unprecedented humanitarian and border security crisis along our southwest border.”
This week has seen the highest number of apprehensions and encounters in over a decade. Yesterday broke the record with 4,117 in a single day.
With new caravans forming and on their way of thousands of individuals, the POTUS has called on Mexico to step in and disallow these groups to travel through their country freely.
Luckily, on Tuesday, House Democrats failed to override the veto Trump placed on their initial appeal of the national emergency that the POTUS placed on the current crisis.
If this continues to get much worse, there will have to be military intervention at our southern border before people realize that crossing in illegally is not acceptable.
